Blogs or message boards?

What's your opinion on the advantages of a blog over a message board? I've just started wondering whether the charity website I work on would be better off with a blog or a message board attached in the members-only area.

I was thinking that as the charity's biggest commodity is indepth information sharing, then perhaps a blog would be a better thing. The only issue with having any of these things is the labour involved in ongoing monitoring....

Whats your opinion?
